Eye & Vision Exams
The American Optometric Association recommends annual or bi-annual eye and vision exams, depending on your family history and personal risk factors. Regular eye exams are equally important for pediatric vision care. At A+ Vision Optometry, we see patients for first-time and regular eye exams, whether they’re preventative in nature or necessitated by ongoing eye or vision problems.
Often, eye or vision issues do not exhibit easy-to-notice symptoms, and because you have no basis of comparison, sight degradation can be difficult to identify. With regular exams, these problems can be quickly diagnosed by your trusted optometrist. By finding these conditions early, treatment to prevent or restore vision loss can be administered with greater success.
We conduct exams to diagnose glaucoma, myopia, hyperopia and other cognitive conditions that may be treated with vision therapy.
Eye Exams & Consultations
Before the eye exam, Dr. Nguyen will ask you about your family history, current medications, past health issues and previous eye conditions to help her better diagnose and address your vision care needs.
During the vision testing portion of the exam, Dr. Nguyen will evaluate your vision using an eye chart and wall chart. Depending on your performance, Dr. Nguyen may prescribe corrective lenses for improved visual acuity.
Eye Function Testing
An eye examination in our Ladera Ranch office includes an assessment of eye functionality. Dr. Nguyen will perform multiple tests to evaluate color and peripheral vision, depth perception, eye muscle strength and light responsiveness. These tests are administered to make sure your eyes and brain are communicating properly. Eye function problems can contribute to learning difficulties and disabilities. If you or your child are deficient in eye function, we may recommend vision therapy.
The final portion of a comprehensive eye exam is a visual inspection and tonometry procedure. Dr. Nguyen visually examines the eyelids and eye using light and a magnifying lens to evaluate eye health. To examine the internal eye structure, she may dilate the pupils. A tonometry procedure measures eye pressure; increased eye pressure is a symptom of glaucoma.
After completing these brief and painless tests, Dr. Nguyen will review the results with you and discuss any necessary treatment options, making sure to answer all of your questions and address any of your concerns.
